What to do when Water Damage Occurs

The beginning of 2022 has kicked off with frigid temperatures and plenty of precipitation. We have seen a spike in water damage losses in Pasadena recently. Water damage can be the most common and most costly loss a homeowner can experience. The damage water can cause to your home may come as a surprise. Now is the time for Pasadena homeowners to take preventative measures to protect their property.
The first thing a homeowner should do before the freezing temperatures arrive is disconnect all hoses connected to the house and shut off the exterior water supply. As an additional precaution, homeowners should always check or monitor the water pipes located in the attic, garage, basement, and crawl space. These areas of the home often have exposed pipes that can freeze on colder nights and windier days. It is also important to know where your shut off valve is in your home as well.
Should a water incident occur in your business, remove excess water, if possible, remove and prop up any wet upholstery cushions for even driving and place aluminum foil or wood blocks under furniture legs. These few steps can be the difference in preventing further damage to your home and its contents.
